Next, select an appropriate profile depending on the statistics you require:
- web external only (from 24th January 2006 with user numbers)
- web internal and external (from 24th January 2006 with user numbers)
- web with bot filter (from 1st July 2005 onwards with no user numbers)
Generally you will use one of the first two, either with or without internal (ie Council staff) use. However, if you need statistics from earlier than the end of January 2006 then you must use the third profile.
You will now see the default report which is for overall user sessions for the current week. As you can see on the left-hand side of the screen there are a number of different types of report that you can select. You can also select any particular range of dates for your figures.
To find out how many pageviews (these are a popular way of measuring "hits") your section is getting then:
- In the Date Range box (bottom left) select the date(s) required, for example click on a day, week (the left arrows), month or Enter Range for a customised range
- In the Reports box (top left) click on Pages and Files, then Directory Drilldown, followed by Directory by Pages Drilldown
- If your section has not yet made it into the Top 10 then you will either need to use the filter box or change the # Shown to 50 or 100 to show more details
- Once you have found your section you can drill up and down the section by clicking on the folder icons
Remember that this report works by totalling all hits for pages at or below the level displayed.
