Statistics
Don't forget that user statistics are still published every month. The regular analysis now includes both monthly and annual comparisons for overall use, the top 20 content sections and other selected pages and sections. This year we've also featured detailed figures for clubs and societies, news stories and international visits.
The headline annual comparison figures for this quarter are down, in the main due to less use of the school closures pages. Who would have thought that there could be a link between global warming and our website statistics!
Click Density
The web team have recently setup a new service which analyses where users click on pages. This allows us to look in more detail at how our users are interacting with various pages across the site. To give you an idea of what this looks you can see the "heat map" for recent clicks on the home page below.

As you can see almost all of the links are getting some clicks but, as might be expected, some parts of the screen are much more popular than others. For example the A- Z Index, Search, Jobs and Planning links are attracting most clicks at the moment.
The web team will be looking at how to use this information to improve usability of future home page designs as well as other key pages around the site. Just contact us if you are interested in seeing a heat map for your own pages.
Gateway Aberdeenshire Strategy
As part of the Customer First programme the Gateway Aberdeenshire Project Board, who have overall responsibility for all aspects of the development of our website, were recently asked to develop a Vision and supporting Strategy for the next two years. This will sit alongside the visions of other related projects such as Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Entitlement Cards and Common Address Gazeteer (CAG).
The agreed Vision is to:
Provide an excellent website which consistently delivers quality current content, a compelling user experience and supports widespread use of self-service transactions
The supporting Strategic Intentions and Key Objectives make up the Gateway Aberdeenshire Strategy 2007/09.
If you have any questions about Gateway Aberdeenshire please contact the Project Leader, Chris Clelland, or any of the Board members:
